Andy begrudgingly attended his first square dance class in 1999. After that first class, taught by the incredible Pat Carnathan, Andy and his wife Tami were hooked. In the summer of 2003, Andy attended a caller school run by local caller coach John Marus. With the patient support of the callers and dancers of San Diego County, Andy was given the opportunity to learn the art of calling.
By day, Andy is a Director of Product Management for a software company. Nights and weekends are pretty much all about Square Dance. Andy is the caller/teacher for three and a half weekly clubs in the San Diego area; a Hexagon club (the Lighthouse Squares), an IAGSDC Multi Level club (Basic thru A2 - The Finest City Squares), a traditional Plus club (Sundown Squares), and an Advanced club (Sponsored by the San Diego County Callers Association). On weekends, Andy has the honor of calling regional dances, Festivals, and Weekends throughout the US. Andy also is a staff caller on Buddy Weaver's Blue Star Records. |

After much brow beating and coercion from his parents, Bill began square dancing in 1993.
Jane started square dancing is 1974 with the Tip Topers Square Dance club, but it wasn't until the 1980s that she found her love for round dancing. Bill met his friend Jane Stokes at a square dance class. They began learning how to round dance from Judy Ballard (Eads) in 1994, and have attended classes with many of the San Diego teachers. Bill began teaching with Judy in 1995 and started cuing shortly after. Bill and Jane became partners in 1996. Bill is retired from the automotive field and became the club cuer for Sundown Squares when Judy retired in 2003. Bill enjoys dancing, fishing, golf, and has a lifelong passion for football. Our resident round dance cuer is Bill Hale. Bill has been cueing since 1995, and has been at Sundown Squares since 2003. He cues phases 1-5 on Sunday nights, and hosts a Round dancing class starting at 5:00PM.
